Swan Swarm 7"x10" watercolour

Skyward thugs brass, crass and rude, insulting, barking and squawking.

Swarming, diving, circling and teasing a gang of gulls harass.

A meal and peace disturbed causing even a royal mute swan to cry out.

Water ripples radiating outward and the moment passes.

Promise of Spring 10"x7" watercolour

Promise of Spring on the shore of the basin's pebble beach.

A boy throws stones in freshly melted water, absorbed in play.

Sitting on sea wall steps mother watches protectively enjoying the sun.

Clothes shed behind her, the season's warmth and still waters ahead.

Deer Tracks 10"x7" watercolour

Tracks in the snow by an icy stream found on an early morning trek.

Between a waterfront home and a public pool; the water rushes to the basin.

Grabbing a quick refreshing drink of cold, cold water before she dashes off.

A noise: freezes her like a sculpture, a deer disappears like a memory.

The undulating line of a wire fence, and path drawing to follow.

Morning light lights dogwood and vines in oranges and burgundy.

Blue sky and trees reflected in puddles and ice as runner passes.

Swan Dines 7"x10" watercolour

Snow and ice diamond on simmering blue water.

A sun lit vessel of food is lowered and presented.

Gliding over for a regal inspection the swan eats.

River Mocha 10"x7" watercolour

A mocha muddy torrent swiftly racing by.

Run off from melting and rain flooding in surging flow.

Lined by solid shore, rocks immobile in contrast.

Gull perches like sentry calm and stoic.

Twilight Crows-10"x7" watercolour

Over the basin twilight sky of gold, orange, blue, and mauve.

Caws, crackles and cries crows call to loudly gather together.

Appearing from nowhere toward the setting sun they darken.

Blackening evening in Bedford, drawing night covers over town.
